Hey everyone,
I thought I would write a short blog post after watching Spencer's new video titled 'I'm sorry'. He is a content creator that I have known for the last few years, meeting him at Soccer Six's football event back in 2016 (which is over 5 years ago!) and he is still creating content.
His YouTube bio section says: Hello, my name is Spencer, or ElmoFilms! My videos are mostly about lifestyle, having fun making collaboration videos, or any videos requested by my viewers. I upload videos every Wednesday at 6PM (GMT), and Sundays at 6PM (GMT). Please do give me a chance and click subscribe! 🙂 If you're a brand looking to work with me, please contact my Manager at elmofilmsbusiness@gmail.com. I am always looking for new brands to work with, brand deals, sponsorships, product placement and/or TV appearances. Spence x.
According to 'influencer Matchmaker' Spencer also began his content creating journey by opening FIFA 15 packs on his channel, and has now shared content which includes vlogs, reaction and challenge videos. He is also a fashion advocate and shares images of himself on Instagram wearing different outfits.
Spencer has also worked alongside ASOS and created a separate Instagram account to post his sponsored content, and he was also part of a group of creators who lived at 'The Wave House', including Millie T and Kate Elisabeth (which Spencer reveals was pre paid for, and their little group just had to find motivation to think of different content to film!
Spencer has also created a brand called 'Originality is Rare' and has a small collection of merchandise on his website! He has also worked with other brands including Daniel Wellington, JD Sports and Superdry!
In Spencer's 12 minute video, he explains that there are a variety of ups and downs in the social media/influencer world, but explains that he wasn't able to be himself, as he was known as being the 'sad boy' of his group - which is a persona he couldn't hide behind anymore. He said that creating content is something he has always enjoyed, including his first single, opening different companies and being able to travel, but not everything is at it seems, adding that his YouTube video content is purely for entertainment purposes. He adds that 'you can entertain, but you can also be honest' which refers to how some influencers tell lies, work with brands just for money / 'clout' or just to make themselves seem more relatable, and this is the first time in a long time that a content creator has opened up about their struggles behind the camera.
It's a very interesting and eye opening video which explains some of the challenges that can be faced, although from the outside everything seems perfect. He also seemed to explain that everyone will have their own time, and as a lot of his audience are younger, it's better to be honest and open with everyone now, and apologised for creating such a negative video, but that it had to be said. I really respect Spencer, and I know he's got an eye for videography and photography as I have seen his content online, so hope he continues to create for a long time into the future - and he's achieved so much in 21 years already, I'm sure he is going to continue thriving in the social media world!
