Hey everyone,
For today's review, I thought I would react to a new music video that has been released by Ariana Grande, called 'Twilight Zone'. It's a very short music video with some interesting lyrics of the song. The initial part of the video reminded me of something from video game with the background music sounding like spaceships. You can see Ariana in a dark and secluded room wearing a creamy gold dress, sleeping in the darkness.
Some of the opening lyrics include the words 'did I dream the whole thing or was it a nightmare' which is almost suggesting that she doesn't remember being with this individual who she is singing about, and unsure how she ended up somewhere like this on her own. Around her is just mess and chaos with a broken lamp and not much lighting. Throughout the video we see her walking into different rooms and walking into a puddle of water and even rescusing what seems to be a necklace from a random box on the set.
Ariana sings the words 'does she know you're not who you say you are, cause I might give her a call' almost suggesting this person could have made out he was in a better place than he actually was, and possibly told her lies throughout their time together. She explains that she doesn't miss them and wouldn't change anything, but I guess that symbolises that this is more of a learning curve for her, to not trust people so easily. She says 'it's not that I miss you, I don't, sometimes I just can't believe you happened'. Maybe she is surprised she was lucky enough to be with this person, or she can't believe that somebody like her, would want to be with this invididual - so almost has a double meaning for those who want to look at it either way.
At the end of the video we see her walking towards the light which seems as if she is stuck on some sort of spaceship or alternative Universe, so maybe it's just an opening song for her new album which she may be releasing soon! Until my next review, thanks for reading...and goodbye!
