Sabrina Carpenter 'Espresso' - Music Video Review

Hey everyone,

For today's review I will be discussing the music video that was released by Sabrina Carpenter for her latest track 'Espresso'. The entire song seems to be filmed at the beach with a lot of beach hunks following her and watching her every move. We can see her at the beginning of the video in a speed boat with a guy behind her wearing sunglasses and the video is in black and white, until she holds up her credit card which seems to be gold, maybe this is referring to her 'espresso' as it may be a card used to purchase coffee. Sabrina sings the line 'switch it up like Nintendo' and throughout the chorus speaks about going left or right, and adding that the guy she's singing about isn't able to sleep.

Sabrina also sings the line 'I can't relate to desperation' which could be a hint that she's a strong independant woman and she continues to sing the line 'I got this one boy and he can't stop calling' which suggests that she knows somebody who is very interested in her but she doesn't want to give in by replying or engaging with him. During this part of the video we can see her sitting on a beach chair with a few other girls and she's having a back massage from one of the young hunks. She also sings the words 'I'm working late because I'm a singer' adding that 'he looks so cute wrapped around my finger' which is probably a way for her to show off that she's a singer and doesn't really have time to date or mess around as this is something she does as a full time career, and the fact that she knows she is able to attract the good looking men, means that she can do whatever she wants and she knows they'll stil be there. We see a small group of topless boys with sunglasses watching her every move, and Sabrina sings the lyrics 'too bad your ex don't do it for ya' and 'I know I Mountain Dew it for ya' which are both lines to explain that this person is interested in Sabrina but maybe she's playing hard to get.

It's a great music video and it's a song that's been playing non stop over the past few weeks, and I think it will continue to be a recognisable tune going forward, but let's hope that Sabrina releases a new album or EP soon with more songs!

Hopefully you enjoyed my music video, until the next blog post...Goodbye!
