NoHun 'Villain' - Album Review

Hey everyone,

For today's blog post I will be reviewing an album by content creator NoHun who is known for his funny, potentially offensive but relatable content on social media, and he's now made a comeback to the music world by releasing his first proper album called 'Villain'. The overall vibe of the album is about self reflection, speaking about experiences he's overcome and a few people who he wishes he could have back in his life, but knows he's not able to bring back. There are 8 tracks in total and I think that he will probably continue writing and releasing music for years to come.

Some of the lyrics in the first song 'Get You Bodied' include referneces to Katniess Everdeen from The Hunger Games and even a line of lyrics 'I'll disappear like Madeline McCann from the hotel bed'. He also says at the beginning of the song that he's only going to 'do it with heads that are making movements' which could suggest he's only going to collaborate with people who will be doing it for the right reasons. He also sings lyrics such as 'I'm Nicki you're Iggy' and admits that he might even buy a house in Norwich or open up a florist, just because he's in the position to do whatever he pleases with the money he has earnt. In 'On Site' he also references Bhad Bhabie by saying 'gotta hope I don't catch you outside' and explains that he has 'got no interest in making friends...I'm underrated, maybe the most hated' suggesting that he is aware some people don't like him or his personality, but he just wants to have a successful career ih whichever industry he is able to excel. He also comments on the fact that he doesn't want people to take him for a gimic, and that there are some people he is not a fan of, which is why he doesn't follow them back

In 'Do It Right' it almost sounds like a song of experiences that he has had, such as being on a business flight to Japan and having somebody call his phone late at night, which he says it's 'probably for the best that I let you go'. The fourth song which is called 'Need Me' follows the same pattern as the previous song, saying that 'the reason that I stay is because you tell me that you need me' and not because of any other reasons. He explains in this song that you can't trust anyone, because people waste your time.

'Want You Back' is a reflection song where NoHun seems to be singing and rapping about somebody that he is thinking about bringing back into his life, saying the words 'you're not here with me and I want you back, I wish I never let you go'. He raps a few lines in the song with lyrics such as 'if you're feeling freaky you can dress me up in leather', and continues with the clothes lyrics by saying 'dress me in expensive sh*t' which is almost a hit of things that he enjoys with being in a relationship, or that maybe he was dating an older person who was going to treat him like a King, and then something happened to change it all. NoHun also says the line 'they say they hate me, but they're still watching;' which is probably a message for the haters that he has amassed from his content, but they're still engaging with his posts or watching his content online, which shows that he is winning.

The next song 'Boyfriend' is almost like a dating application through lyrics, where he says 'if you like what you see, maybe we can spend some time', with NoHun saying that 'we can catch a vibe' and I'm guessing that could lead to other things, such as being his boyfriend. The final songs on the album is a collaboration with MARYJANE and it's a song called 'Bye Bye Bye' where somebody must have treated NoHun wrong, and he's explaining that they're not welcome back. He explained that he 'should have known you were a bad guy' so maybe he was young and unaware of the man's actions, and also said that he was stuck living with him for 5 years before being able t actually escape, and said that it was 'hard for me to leave, but it was worth it'. NoHun goes on to say 'you were blocking my purpose' which shows that this person had either stopped him from wanting to achieve his creative dreams, or might have been controlling through his personal life. He says now that his 'blessings are surplus' and I think he's in a very strong position with people he adores by his side. MARYJANE's lyrics include 'keep it to myself, but that's not my vibe' which is referring to some of the lyrics previously, where she's tempted to spill the beans or release some drama about some of the experience she's been involved with. She added that she can 'get any guy that I like' which shows that she's confident, and she knows how she should be treated!

Hopefully you enjoyed my music review, and until my next blog post...Goodbye!
