Little Mix (ft Saweetie) 'Confetti' - Music Video Review

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

Hey everyone!

Another day, another review of a music video! In today's review I will be discussing the visuals for Little Mix's new video 'Confetti' featuring female rapper Saweetie!

At the beginning of the video, the shots are quite dark, with only a small collection of blue lights and spotlights able to be seen. Each of the 3 members of the band are seen sitting on a little white chair, and their male personas are seen to be dancing not too far away from the glamorous ladies. It's quite interesting as they have two different versions of themselves performing side by side and it's not only creative but also showcases the differences between how the genders are seen to behave. All of the girls are seen in a dance off with their ale personas; with Jade wearing Yellow, Perrie in Pink and Leigh-Anne in Blue and they look like the Powerpuff Girls or the Totally Spies girls (take your pick!).

Jade has her solo in the video by dancing with one of the backing dancers, and Perrie is seen dancing, singing and performing alongside a group of performers as her male personality. In the middle of the video whilst the girls are all performing, a duo of drag queens enter the room and Perrie can be seen accidentally walking into one of the, which starts drama in the building. After the confusion, all of the 'girls' (in their male outfits) is seen going to the toilet, discussing each of the girls and who they want to get with the most, with their female versions having the same conversation - which is almost a resemblance of what happens in a nightclub when groups of friends go to the toilet together.

When the drag queens look at the CCTV, they see rapper Saweetie appear on the screen with her long brown hair, red acrylic nails and animal-like outfit dancing in front of the cameras. She sings about the girls receiving nudes from guys, describing herself as 'artistic' whilst dropping the name 'Yoko Ono' in the song (who was known to be a unique creative, and also partner of John Lennon). The final dance routine saw the 3 girls performing on top of a building with buildings in the background, smoke and fires making the performance that little bit extra. With the backing dancers and drag queens to bring some flavour and character to the music video, it was great to see the Little Mix girls performing again (although it's sad to have seen the departure of Jesy Nelson back at the end of 2020), but I'm sure the girls will continue on their legacy just as well, by being a group of 3...and you never know, we could see 'Little Mix ft Jesy Nelson' in the future! Stay tuned, but for now, this was a great music video and it was great to see some of the funny bloopers at the end of the video, included in the final cut!
