Hey everyone,
Today's music video review is for a new song called 'The Vaccine' by rapper Hi Rez whose YouTube channel I stumbled across, when he played the role of an Uber driver and said that if his rapping was bad, the couple he was driving would get their money back, and after rapping for several minutes, they were actually surprised at how good he was and decided to pay for their ride! Here's my review of the single!
The entire music video seemed to be shot in a hospital with Hi Rez wearing a light blue uniform and hat. He could be seen walking down the corridor before entering a room which transitioned into the start of his rap. He explained throughout the first lyrics that 'ain't no other person in the game as patient as I am', which seems to show that people might treat him badly but he will continue to give people chances. He continues to say that there are a lot of fake things on the internet such as cars, clothes and even jewellery. There are multiple transitions between different shots, including with him seen in a white room surrounded by lots of clocks and also in an operating room with a patient who seems to be asleep. Hi Rez also explains that he's been 'rapping for a decade, homie I ain't new to this' and it's revealed that the patient in the bed is in-fact himself, as you can see him singing throughout the video, from the bed.
In the next part of the video, he explains that people often 'want me to stay home and want me to still struggle' but he wants to prove people wrong and achieve things that people initially thought he wasn't able to do. He adds that 'it's a marathon not a sprint' and that he doesn't need to be waiting on anybody else to progress with his life. The various transitions and pans in the video make the graphics more interesting to watch and it makes me feel I'm almost in a video game. Hi Rez is seen holding a green tube filled with a liquid and the levels on the electronic computer seem to be going up, which might show that his patient is in fact still alive. His final words include 'I'm too sick for a vaccine to do sh*t' which could either mean that he's too good 'too sick', or because of how long it's taken for anything to be done, a vaccine isn't going to make him feel any better than he was previously.
