Hey everyone,
In this music video review, I take a look at Clean Bandit's new single with Mabel on a song called 'Tick Tick'. Clean Bandit have worked with some incredible artists already such as Sweden's Zara Larsson, X Factor UK 2015's winner Louisa Johnson and American rapper Bhad Bhabie. Shout out to the amazing female artists that have been able to showcase their talents and raise their platforms with the help of Clean Bandit and the team!
The scene of the music video almost looks like a doll house in a user generated arena, almost like what you would see in a video game. Mabel opens the door of a clock and begins singing some of the opening lyrics and Clean Bandit's Grace is seen sitting in a bath full of popcorn. I think the overall theme of this song is wanting something 24/7 so each of the musicians are seen in comfortable backgrounds of things that they are addicted to. The piano player can be seen playing with train tracks later on in the video as well, so it's great that there are multiple different interests being showcased at once.
Mabel is also seen dancing with some of her backing dancers with dark lighting to help set the scene, and her dancing has definitely improved over the years, showing confidence as well as a natural ability to perform. Some of the lyrics sung include 'my body wants you night and day, but my head is screaming go away' which explain that although she might be mising somebody physically, her mind is telling her to make a sensible decision of not making the same mistake again
During 24kGoldn's rap verse, he is seen in an incredibly light pink suit singing the words 'addicted to your love, I want more' which could hint that there is a special person being sung about here, as well as all the other positives which could be hinted in the song. There are also some fast paced shots of Mabel and her dancers performing, and the chorus' lyrics which consists of lots of 'na na na na na's' have a great melody and are really fun to sing along to. Towards the end of the song there is a short instrumental to help you focus on the dancing and the visuals, which is a great way to showcase each of the artists' individual talents, and the looks included in the video. Grace is also seen dancing with Mabel's dancers and I also noticed the hole between some of the walls, showing you a background shot of what's happening in a different scene. The final part of the song had a long panning shot coming away from the doll house, Mabel closed the pink doors and there were faint sounds of birds singing which brought the music video to an end.
