Hey everyone,
In this blog post, Celebrity Karaoke Club is back for a second series and this blog post will summarise the week of events before revealing what happened in the LIVE final!
Monday 5th July
During the first episode, we were introduced to the first seven celebrities who were;
Love Island's Olivia Attwood, Capital's Sonny Jay, Radio host AJ Odudu, Big Brother champion Brian Dowling, X Factor UK's Amelia Lily, Housewife of Cheshire Tanya Bardsley and music duo Max & Harvey. Throughout the episode they were all getting to know eachother and performed a solo performance followed by a duo performance! The pairs were Sonny & Tanya, AJ & Max & Marvey, Olivia & Amelia...and Brian had to perform on his own! Brian won the first episode, and it was Max & Harvey who were in the bottom two performers with Sonny. In the end, the celebrities saved Sonny, and Max & Harvey were the first to be eliminated from the competition!
Tuesday 6th July
At the beginning of this episode, we welcomed Made in Chelsea star and 'professional posh boy' Mark Francis Vandelli who seemed to be a winner with the other celebrities including Amelia who seemed to be a massive fan. For the solo performances, Amelia performed Donna Summer's 'Hot Stuff', AJ sang Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing', Brian performed Atomic Kitten's 'Eternal Flame' and Olivia performed her rendition of Peter Andre's 'Mysterious Girl'. The other performances included Mark's version of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive', but will he survive at least one night in the karaoke club? Sonny performed '2 Become 1' by the Spice Girls and Tanya performed Rihanna's 'Rude Boy'. Mark explained that everyone is a winner and Amelia stated that she loved everyone...(but I'm not sure if that was her talking, or the alcohol)...
During the private chat in the bathroom, Olivia explained to Sonny that she voted Tanya as the best performer and him as the worst...explaining that she feels like she had jumped out of an aeroplane and that her parachute was on fire. Sonny replied 'At this moment in time...good!', because he wasn't sure why he was voted as the worst performer! The duets tonight were Brian & Tanya who performed 'Toxic' by Britney Spears, Amelia & Sonny performed Robbie Williams' 'Let Me Entertain You'. Olivia & Mark sang 'That don't impress me much' by Shania Twain and AJ performed C'est La Vie...with two members of B*witched! The winner of the night was Mark, with Sonny, Amelia and Olivia in the bottom three, having to perform their drunken rendition of Katy Perry's 'Firework'. In the end, Olivia and Amelia had one vote to be eliminated, but with two of the celebrities choosing to eliminate Sonny, he became the second celebrity to leave the club!
Wednesday 7th July
In the third episode of Celebrity Karaoke Club we were treated to a group performance of One Direction's 'What makes you beautiful' which introduced us to comedian Suzi Ruffell and Love Island's Marcel Somerville who joined the club! Olivia and Marcel were on the same Love Island series and Marcel explained that it was the best series, but they both agreed it was good to finally have a reunion...even though it might have been slightly awkward as they were coupled up during their time in the villa together. Olivia explained to Amelia that she needed life support after her performance last night, but will she survive another sing off?
The playlist for this episode was called 'Teenage Fantasy' and the solo performances included Marcel who performed 'Crossroads' by Blazin' Squad, a rap song which he managed to get everybody on the stage for. Brian sang Kylie Minogue's 'Spinning Around', Suzi slowed down the pace of the evening by singing 'Ironic' by Alanias Morissette and Tanya performed 'Umbrella' by Rihanna! Brian and Mark had a brief discussion about whether they keep in contact with any of their school friends anymore and Brian was unsure whether it was because he was weird. Mark added that it's because they were the best out of their school friends. Suzi, Tanya and AJ all discussed the 'sl*t drop' with AJ comparing it to an incredibly low squat, and Suzi adding that you have to remember to be able to get back yp again! Brian also taught Suzi how to do a salsa and quick step, suggesting to hold his hand and 'run really fast' to be able to do the quick step well! AJ performed 'Uptown Girl' whilst wearing a set of shoulder pads and got the rest of the celebrities involved with a congo line, Mark sung 'Fly me to the moon' by Frank Sinatra - which was a close comparison to Beethoven, and he performed a little dace with both Tanya and AJ! Amelia performed Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold' and Olivia performed Avril Lavigne's 'Sk8er Boi'
During the paired duets, Suzi and AJ performed Beyonce's 'Single Ladies' followed by other duets including Mark and Marcel's 'I wanna dance with somebody' by Whitney Houston and Olivia and Brian's version of 'Stop' by the Spice Girls! As Love Island's Marcel is a rapper, he taught Mark how to 'spit words' and Olivia explained that she would do anything to stay in the competition. The winner of the night was AJ and it was Marcel and Mark who had to battle it off in the head to head as they were the lowest scoring celebrities! AJ rooted for both of them, explaining to them to 'give it everything...I wanna see blood on the stage' which I'm guessing it's literal, she just wanted them to perform really well! The boys performed a cover of Frozen's 'Let it go' and after 4 votes to eliminate Marcel (Tanyra, Olivia, Brian and AJ), he had the majority of votes to be kicked out of the celebrity club, and the surviving celebrities performed Destiny's Child's 'I'm a survivor'!
Thursday 8th July
In the 4th episode of the show, we had already see Max & Harvey, Sonny Jay and Marcel Somerville get eliminated from the Celebrity Karaoke Club, so who would be next? In this episode we welcomed British Comedian Darren Harriott and it was revealed that there was going to be a double elimination at the end of the night. The playlist for this episode was 'Feeling Myself' and the solo performances were as follows! AJ performed S Club 7's 'Reach' whilst wearing her purple outfit and matching hairclips, Darren sang Backstreet Boys' classic song 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)' and the other performances included Olivia's 'Don't stop me know' by Queen and Mark's 'Respect' by Aretha Franklin. Suzi explained that she is actually friends with Darren, but she also liked Mark and Amelia, and she wouldn't be judging him too nicely. Amelia was speaking to Brian and stated that she loved Harry Styles and especially his single 'Watermelon Sugar' which Brian revealed the true meaning of, which made her feel a little awkward.
Speaking of food and drink, Brian performed a version of Kelis' 'Milkshake', followed by Amelia's 'What's up' by the 4 Non Blondes, which saw Olivia dressing up some of the other celebrities in fancy dress outfits and props, and also saw her fighting with a plastic head. Tanya performed Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby' and finally Suzi performed P!nk's 'So what'. In the bathroom Amelia asked Olivia and Suzi to rate who they would Snog, Shag and Avoid out of Mark, AJ and Brian! Suzi said she would marry AJ, shag Brian and avoid Mark, with Olivia adding she would marry Mark as she knows she will be rich, shag AJ because she's fit and avoid Brian. She also went on to explain that she has had to sign a variety of NDA's (Non disclosure agreements) because of some of the famous men that have spoken to her in both the US and UK whom she isn't able to speak about.
Brian also played a game of 2 truths 1 lie with Amelia, which included the 3 sentences; he won a Bafta award, was assaulted on a flight where the army had to come on...and that he has a very large penis. Amelia correctly guessed that the penis statement was not true, and he explained that it's not small, it's actually pretty average! Darren, Suzi and Mark also had a chat as to who they thought would be in the bottom three, with agreement on Olivia and Tanya, and Mark thinking that he could also be in the bottom!
The duets were from a playlist called 'A night at the movies' and the performances were Brain and Tanya who performed 'Part of your world' from The Little Mermaid, Olivia and Suzi's 'Can't fight the moonlight' by LeAnn Rimes, Darren and AJ's 'Tragedy' by Steps (which featured a few special performers to join them!) and Amelia and Mark's '(I've had) the time of my life' by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. Brian explained that he has a variety of celebrity look a likes including Graham Norton or Brian McFadden, and went on to angrily tell AJ that he doesn't want her to go home. In the end, the winner of the night was Tanya, and it was Darren, Olivia and Amelia were the three performers who landed in the bottom of the pack! They performed their version of The Killer's most well known song 'Mr Brightside'. Mark decided to evict Darren and Olivia, Brian chose Darren and Amelia, Suzi chose Amelia and Olivia, AJ chose Amelia and Olivia and Tanya chose Darren and Olivia! After receiving 3 votes each, Tanya had the deciding vote, and those that she evicted, were kicked out of the karaoke club...which meant Amelia was the only singer to survive the sing off!
Friday 9th July
On Friday's episode of Celebrity Karaoke Club, AJ, Tanya, Brad, Amelia, Mark & Suzi all performed a version of 'Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars & Mark Ronson, and we were introduced to new celebrities Yasmin Evans, a BBC Radio 1 presenter and Jordan Davies from ibiza Weekender. Mark explained to Jordan that he's not going to win the prize by coming in near the end and only doing 1/3 of the work. The playlist for this episode was called 'Last Orders' and the first performances were from AJ who performed Ricky Martin's 'She Bangs', Jordan, who covered the song 'Year 3000' by Busted, Suzi, who sang '9 to 5' by Dolly Parton whilst wearing her all blue outfit and dancing around the karaoke club, and Yasmin who sang 'Young hearts run free' by Candi Station whilst wearing a matching yellow and pink bra and trousers (which was really colourful!).
Brian explained that he judged the performances rather than focusing on the singing, Suzi didn't look very happy during this part of the programme, and Jordan asked whether Tanya deserved to win 'singer of the night'/ Tanya and Amelia had a chat in the bathroom, and Tanyra thought that she was going to be eliminated at the end of the night. It was also revealed that Jordan had slept with one of Tanya's ex housewives after a night at the hotel, but their name wasn't disclosed, in order to protect their identity. Tanya also explained that she has been married for 14 years and is 'active in the bedroom' everyday. Amelia and Jordan had a chat, and said that AJ was giving it everything in her performances every night and she looked like a supermodel, but Amelia doesn't give a sh*t. Jordan added that Brian and AJ both seem very competitive. The performances continued with Tanya's rendition of 'Valerie' by Amy Winehouse, Mark's version of 'Big Spender' by Shirley Bassey, Brian's 'Dancing Queen' by ABBA and Amelia's 'Walking on sunshine' by Rockers Revenge.
Brian, AJ and Tanya had another chat and explained that new celebrities Yasmin and Jordan were both bringing so much energy to their performances. AJ added that Yasmin's outside was insane but the song choice she chose was not for her. Jordan put Yasmin as his favourite and stated that Mark's song only lasted about 3 seconds, which is how long he usually lasts in bed. AJ also explained that Tanya's performance had stepped up tonight and it was the first time she sung all of the words to her song! Jordan also said that he likes all types of ships, but the best ones are FRIENDships. Yasmin explained to AJ that she accidentally swore during a live radio show, when she said she didn't like 'black cod' but the wrong word came out of her mouth...
For the duets round, Brian and Suzi sang 'No Scrubs' by TLC, Amelia and Tanya performed George Michael's 'Faith', AJ and Mark performed their version of '(Jump) for my love' by The Pointer Sisters and finally newbies Jordan and Yasmin performed 'All Rise' by Blue, with Antony and Duncan from Blue who appeared midway through their performance. Jordan also had a bit of a fanboy moment! Brian, Amelia and Tanya discussed who they would put into the sing off, and Amelia stated that Suzi didn't seem to enjoy any of the performances that she was in so she was a potential to be kicked out of the club. The celebrities also spotted a dirty tampx in the bathroom, and we found out that Jordan was the 'mega star' of the night. In the bottom two was Suzi and Tanya who performed 'Sex on fire' by Kings of Leon. Brian and Jordan voted to evict Suzi from the club, with Yasmin wanting to evict Tanya. Amelia and AJ also voted to evict Suzi, so with a score of 4-1, Suzi was the next celebrity to be eliminated from the karaoke club. The surviving celebrities performed 'Since you been gone' by Kelly Clarkson as the goodbye song as a tribue to Suzi, and a celebration of making it to the final of the show!
Saturday 10th July
To start the final episode of the second season of Celebrity Karaoke Club, the 7 celebrities in the final; Yasmin, Jordan, AJ, Brian, Amelia, Tanya and Mark all performed 'Spice up your life' by the Spice Girls as a group, before the competition got more serious! The voice of the show explained that in this episode 'every song could be your last' as after each round, somebody would be eliminated from the competition. The finalists were introduced to a champagne tower and after 'rescuing' their drinks, Brian said that everyone had scrubbed up well for the final, with Mark adding that some of the celebrities had looked good throughout the entire competition. In the bathroom, Brian and Tanya were dancing around, and both confused as to how they got into the final. AJ also spoke about her first girls holiday in Zante where in order to get free drinks, they would dance on the table. She added that she was sometimes the one to leave the room in order to leave her friends to get 'down to business' with somebody they had met on holiday...awkward!
The name of the playlist for the final was called 'All Time Anthems' and all of the celebrities had to perform their solo performances. Yasmin performed 'Push it' by Salt 'N' Pepa, Mark performed 'I'm so excited' by The Pointer Sisters, Brian performed Kylie Minogue's 'I should be so lucky' and Amelia sung a rendition of The Greatest Showman's 'This is me' originally sung by Keala Settle. Brian and Tanya spoke about how Tanya was in the bottom two the previous night and wondered what she thought about AJ's critique. Tanya explained that she went on the 'defense attack' and Brian added that she probably felt really vulnerable being on the stage in the bottom two and had to fight to stay in the competition, and probably because it was such a close call in order to make it to the final. Jordan, Yasmin, Mark and Amelia were all having a chat at the bar and Jordan posed the question of who the others thought was their biggest competition left in the competition, with Yasmin stating that Jordan was her biggest competition. Mark added that nobody gets in the frame twice so there's nothing to worry about!
AJ and Brian were sitting down having a chat with Jordan who was at the bar and he explained that he was feeling a bit hot. Brian said that he's welcome to take off his shirt if he's comfortable, but didn't have to if he didn't want to...*hint hint*. Amelia was also shocked that Mark hadn't used any of the props in the cupboard and tried to get him to wear a wig which he didn't want to, but instead managed to persuade him to wear a shiny golden scarf which he put on his shoulders. Jordan asked the others who they thought had the best chance of winning the show, with Brian jokingly saying that 'he's applied for this show hundreds of times' and that he's done everything else on TV, what else could he do? Tanya explained that Chloe Kardashian watches the Housewives of Cheshire, stating that it was her favourite but she doesn't understand a single word the cast say. Jordan then performed a rendition of 'It's raining men' by The Weather Girls, pouring drink into Amelia's mouth and being alcohol squirted by Brian and Mark who were standing at the side of the stage. He also got down and began grinding on Brian, which by the look of his face, he seemed to enjoy! It was quite difficult to follow that performance, but Tanya performed 'Everybody get up' by Five, AJ sung 'Somebody told me' by The Killers and explained that after the performance she 'just had to channel rock' adding that 'I think that was very angry' but it was a great performance. We found out that 3 of the celebrities were going to be eliminated from the competition, but allowed to stay in the club and continue voting for their winners! Yasmin, Tanya and Mark were the 3 unlucky celebrities to be eliminated, meaning Brian, Jordan, Amelia and AJ had made it to the final duet battles as the final 4!
Jordan explained that the triple elimination was 'brutal' to which AJ replied 'No, that's amazing'. AJ went onto explain that Yasmin helping Tanya was probably her downfall as she was singing more of the lyrics than Tanya, and posed the question to Tanya who just stuck a finger up in her face. AJ replied 'get your finger away from me' and they giggled it off. Brian and Amelia both did a cheers to making it to the final 4, and Amelia added that she loved AJ and Jordan to death. Brian questioned Amelia on who has delivered more with fashion, performance and voice and realised that they had both already been following eachother on Instagram, which is something he rarely does, if they don't already follow him first!
Before the final duets were to happen, Yasmin was teaching Jordan how to twerk, with Mark sitting down and watching from the sideline. Jordan explained 'I have nothing to shake' but they both did pretty well, especially after how drunk they both probably were! Brian jokingly said to some of the other celebrities that 'they've announced the winner..Olivia's come back and she won', adding that it was only one public vote to decide the winner! The final duet playlist was called 'On the edge of glory' and up first to perform was AJ and Brian, who sand 'Telephone' by Lady Gaga and Beyonce, followed by Jordan and Amelia who performed 'You're the one that I want' from Grease! Jordan added that the song brought 'happy vibes', but will the vibes have been enough to crown him the winner of Celebrity Karaoke Club, series 2? No, they couldn't. Jordan and Brian were both knocked out, with Brian explaining to Jordan that he came 4th and Brian came in 3rd place (obviously), and it was AJ and Amelia who were to perform one final song until one of them was crowned the winner!
They sang 'I don't wanna miss a thing' by Aerosmith and the winner was AJ! The final song that all of the finalists performed was 'Never forget' by Take That...and I most certainly won't be forgetting about this series! So, Celebrity Karaoke Club winner series 1 was C4 Gogglebox's Scarlett Moffatt, and series 2's winner is radio host and television presenter AJ Odudu!
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and I'm sure I'll be back soon with some more live updates of the shows!
