Why are collaborations important in 2020?

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

A 'collaboration' is simple more than one person working on a project to bring it from the creative ideas progress to the finished product. Over the last few years I have been able to work with people on a variety of tasks and projects!

Some of these include on videos which were often uploaded to our YouTube channels, videography work where I would either be a camera operator, editor or something else. In addition to this, I have made sure to try and collaborate with others in different forms, including blog posts, podcasts, people's own personal projects and set group work.

Some top tips with collaborations:

1- Try not to collaborate for free if you are in a industry where you are relying on payment in order to progress further in your field; such as a photographer, model or even something like a costume designer! There may be 'one off' situations where you will work with someone to create content for fun and at no charge as you might want to get some more experience on your portfolio/blog (or wherever you showcase your work).

2- Never collaborate with brands/people that you don't see as an advantage to your own developmental growth. As nice as it is to work with other people, if there isn't anything in it for you, then it's not worth your time. I'm the kind of person that wants to see the best in everyone and if there isn't an instant connection between me and the person I want to work with, I try and work out their personal strengths or something they are passionate in, and collaborate with them as the main inspiration.

3- Approach people via social media/professional email as the worst response you're going to get is 'No', but it's better to try! I am very active on my social media platforms and use at least 2/3 different platforms every single day. It's beneficial for me because it means I can stay updated with what people are doing, see if there is anyone who has started any businesses or working in industries that I could build connections with...Once I've got some potential contacts, I like to ask about the other people such as their interests and hobbies, strengths, whether they create their own content and where they want to share this content so I can get a feel for the type of person they are!

I'm hopefully going to be a lot more active with my blog posting, but to check out my main website and the available skills that I have, head to;
