Hey everyone,
For today's blog I thought I would write a quick review about a documentary showing the highs and lows after appearing on reality television show Love Island, hosted by Will Njobvu. It delves into the lives of some of those who have done well on the show, including Paige Turley & Finley Tapp, Shaughna Philips and Wes Nelson and some of the Islanders who are unsure where their journey goes from here including Coco Lodge, Ikenna Ekwonna, Jess & Eve Gale, Kady McDermott and Tyler Cruickshank.
It was a great insight to see what 'influencing' genuinely means and the reasons why people now want to go onto television to build their platforms or get famous, rather than actually wanting to appear on television or to find love. In total there have been 259 Islanders that have appeared on the show, with most of the Top 15 being female, and 130/259 of them, going back to their ordinary jobs before appearing on the show. It's a staggering statistic but sometimes influencing isn't for everyone, or companies know what specific types of people they want, and if you don't fit their criteria then you'll keep having to look for work elsewhere.
It was a great documentary and hopefully there will be more documentaries like this 'exposing' the reality television shows that we see nowadays, because although there is definitely glitz, glamour and money, there are also a lot of low points that are never spoken about, and the Islanders who don't do well are sometimes left to work out their future career goals by themselves without help from management or agents.
