Hey! In this blog post I am going to be reviewing an EP that has been released by an artist called TSHA! I must also add that I LOVE the cover image for the Ep as it reminds me of what summer should be...
1 - 'Sister'
The opening song on the album is quite a relaxing and summery song which doesn't seem to have many lyris, other than background vocals which sound like a mixture of being male and female. I don't know if the inspiration behind this song name was from the 4 part series called 'The Sister', but it's quite a relaxing tune so far! One of the lyrics in the song that is repeated over and over is 'I was always waiting for us'; which could either mean that she was waiting for her sister, or they were waiting for their call to stardom, which has happened so far with the release of this EP!
2 - 'Renegade'
Ah, the TikTok dance now has its own song! Only the kids of 2020 will know to be honest, anyways, on with the song review! In this song, Ell Murphy is the vocalist who brings a relaxing vibe to the song! (Not sure why I keep using the word 'relaxing' but it truly is!). 'I'm still searching for the sweetest sound' are some of the lyrics sung in this song, which have further lyrics to explain that she is searching for love with somebody else, unable to find this sound on her own! It could be the sound of life? The sound of love? Maybe even the sound of music...Do re mi fa
3 - 'Change'
I almost thought this was a song about the coronavirus with the world being in a place of change, but I don't think it's about that! The artist in this song is Gabrielle Aplin (who I'm sure people have heard of); and she adds a unique style of singing to the lyrics of the song. The lyrics of the song sound like there is one person in a relationship who seems to be unhappy with how the other people is thinking when they have their eyes closed; 'What else can I say?' are the replying lyrics, stating that it's not upto her how she thinks! I think the song also states that this dreamer has potentially been dreaming about other people, which is why this individual isn't happy! I know from personal circumstances that when you dream about somebody that you love or treasure, it makes it difficult to hide those emotions and feelings from somebody else, no matter how hard you try! This was quite a dancy song, but had a truthful meaning behind the lyrics! (From my point of view!)
4 - 'Demba'
The last song on the album is a collab with Trio Da Kali; a band with three memnbers by the names of Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, Lassana Diabaté and Mamadou Kouyaté, originally from Mali! It's quite an amazing way to bring two different genres of music together as there seems to be worldly lyrics being sung, with a constant party/pop beat in the background! The song is just over 5 minutes long, but it's definitely a creative way to blend different styles together!
This EP was very unique to some of the other songs I have previously reviewed or listened to in the past, but you can hear the emotion in the different types of singing that were included; whether it just be an almost instrumental song, a pop song, a more unique style of singing or worldly music in the last single! TSHA is a class producer, able to use her influences and personal stories in songs with meaning. 2020 has been a great year for her so far, but I don't think this will be the end of her music career!
