Hey guys!
Episode 4 out of 4 everyone! What's going to happen in the final part of this series? Will Nathan be found out or will he be able to keep the secret hidden from the ones he loves the most...
At the beginning of this final episode, we go back to Bob's house where we are unsure whether he killed Elise. Well, he reveals that he sort of 'planned it in advance' whilst he was off his head with other drugs (and/or alcohol), stating that death is just a transition from one state to another, and he wanted to test his theory of ghosts...but didn't realise what he did, until after it happened. Nathan is clearly very upset and asks Bob why he's done this and whether he understands what he's done to the family...Bob says that they have to admit what they did, adding that they 'did it together'. Nathan obviously breaks down into tear even more to say that it wasn't him and he wasn't involve but it was Bob, and he cannot let Holly find out what's happened as it would ruin the family. Nathan meets Jackie the policewoman at the station and begins to emotionally tell her part of the story; suggesting that there is something wrong with Bob, that he cannot be trusted and that if something happens to Holly, it will break him, and Jackie blames it on something to do with being in an emotional state, but will Nathan eventually reveal the whole truth?
Nathan continues to speak to Jackie and after she reveals that Elise ended up going to her ex boyfriends house, banging on the window and then suddenly disappears...the storyline didn't make sense. He returns home and sees Holly looking outside the window, visibly upset. She asks him if he's been in bed with another woman and questions him on where he's gone...today...now. He says he can't tell her and understands that she loves him. Nathan decides to go over to Bob's house to try and understand what to do next, and says that he wanted to commit suicide especially because of how bad the situation got...with Bob adding that he's had the same thoughts since he was nineteen years old. Nathan goes on to say it's a bad idea, and it would most certainly hurt Holly, which he wants to avoid.
Minutes later, Nathan questions Bob on the incident and says that he thinks he was also supposed to have taken the drugs and died on that night as well. Bob replies 'Yeah'...and to distract talking about the situation, he begins getting dressed, preparing himself to go to the police station with Nathan, and all of a sudden he falls to the floor and looks as though he is in pain. Nathan asks if he's alright...knowing full well that he isn't, and goes over to the kitchen to put on a pair of white medical gloves, taking some pills out of his box. Bob questions him and Nathan says 'I'm killing you'. It seems as if the 'whisky' he brought over wasn't just whisky...(which is why Nathan didn't drink it)!
Nathan continues to state that he's put sleeping tablets in the whisky, and proceeds to shove them down Bob's throat. Bob somehow manages to call 999 whilst Nathan is trying to find the key to the safe where he thinks Elise's body has been hidden. Nathan is able to grab the phone and call for an ambulance on Bob's behalf as well as lying to Jackie to say that he thinks Bob's taken an overdose of tablets, unsure if he's breathing...
Once the emergency services get to the door, he realises that he needs to find Elise's body because the dress has his DNA all over it and by this point, Jackie is on her way to Bob's house. He realises that Bob repeatedly mentioned there were 'no ice cubes' which makes him suspicious as to what he's trying to hide and quickly rushes over to the freezer. The paramedics manage to force their way into the property and Nathan gets into the position of giving Bob chest compressions. Luckily, he is able to close the freezer door and remove the white gloves to take all eyes off of him, and after giving his personal details, he leaves the property and Jackie enters. He tells her that she should think about checking out the safe as he was acting a bit weird about it, and then makes his way home.
Jackie rings up Holly, obviously explaining that they were able to find Elise's body...and as Nathan is on his way home, he stops driving to open the bag with Elise's dress inside and begins crying into his hands. The scene goes back to Holly who is in the family house, also seen upset, holding a photo of her and Nathan...and then she angrily smashes it to the ground before sitting up against the wall waiting for him to arrive home. As he walks through the door, there is a bit of silence and instantly tells him that Jackie called, and why he didn't mention anything about Elise's disappearance and that he was there on the night of her death, to which he replies 'I was going to, but I didn't know when the best time to tell you was, and I didn't want to make you upset'. She is still crying at this point and told Nathan that she has decided to move back in with her parents to take care of them, giving him strict instructions to stay away from her and the family.
The next day, Jackie turns up at Nathan's house (after Holly made her dramatic exit and went home), to ask him several questions about the night from the day before. First, she asks him about the 999 call that was made from Bob's phone, to which he replies that Bob was acting weird, his phone was on the table and that it was convenient at the time to call the ambulance because he knew something was wrong. Then she goes on to ask him about his sleeping pattern and that if he's been prescribed with drugs, does he have any left? He said he flushed them down the toilet as he didn't want to take them, and reveals that Bob had a lot of prescribed medication in his body; adding that in addition she knew about Bob's drug addition and multiple suicide effects, but said that Bob isn't dead. Nathan looks shocked but asks what happened to him; to which Jackie added that he's actually woken up from a coma...but not a 'normal coma'. Just before she left Nathan's property, she said to Nathan; 'I'll make sure she knows what you did for her'
Nathan is still in shock from the situation and decides to go and visit Bob in hospital, but after entering the room and seeing Bob asleep, his eyes instantly set on Nathan (with scary music in the background at this point...obviously). One of the doctors comes in, explaining that this is a normal thing to happen and it's probably just a seizure that is affected by high brain activity.
We see Nathan staring out into the distance, and Holly begins walking towards him. They discuss how they are both doing after the tragic event. Nathan says his workplace have opened up a gym, which she mocks him about...but then asks again 'Why didn't you tell me what happened?'. He goes on to say that he's sorry, and explains that Holly used to always make him life throughout their relationship. After a little more chat, she asks him 'Do you wanna know something else that's gonna make you laugh?'; and places his hand on her baby bump. He has a face of shock but also happiness, and they make out with the night sky behind them. Right at the end of the episode, we see Nathan driving home alone and the camera pans from the front to the back of the car...and we see a silhouette of Bob lying on the back seat...which suddenly opens its eyes, similar to what happened in the scene when Nathan visited the hospital earlier that day. Elise died and began haunting Bob, so I'm guessing Bob's died, so will be begin haunting Nathan? Who knows? But it's definitely left the show on a cliffhanger...
