The Circle UK Summary - (Sunday 13th October 2019)

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

At the beginning of this episode, there were NINE players left in the game. Original players Woody, Tim, Georgina and 'Sammie', new players Paddy and Ella, catfish 'Joyce' and 'Josh' and the last player to enter The Circle, Jan.

Georgina pulled Tim for a private chat to catch up from where they left off in their last conversation. She was still incredibly angry that Tim had blocked Brooke from The Circle, but she thought it would be a good idea to keep Tim on side as he has been the top influencer throughout most of the game so far and didn't want to make enemies.

'Sammie' spoke with Jan about the fact that they are both single mothers. Jan said that she also missed her little Eloise who was back at home, and they made a connection almost instantly.

Ella invited 'Josh' for a private chat as he wanted to find out more about his job and how he got into that field. 'Josh' said that he had studied Economics at Bristol University, but didn't realise that Ella's brother and most of her friends had also studied at that University, so she tried to question her as much as possible to try and see if he would slip up. 'Josh' managed to lie his way through the conversation, including giving out information of the student halls he stayed in (which was made up), but managed to not get caught in the act!

Catfish 'Joyce' a.k.a Beth and Jack, invited both Georgina and 'Sammie' to a group chat to discuss 'Josh', and their findings about nail marks in the cake from the previous game. They discussed whether they had any doubts of 'Josh' being a catfish, and stating that he hasn't really opened up to her/(them) and it was quite frustrating.

'Josh' also called Jan to a private chat to try and get to know her as the newest player to join The Circle!

The players were then tasked with a game called 'Memory Lane'...well, it wasn't really a game...The players were all given statements and they had to state where they were at the time of the event. The subjects included a Harry Potter novel, to which Ella replied 'In bed'.

When the Berlin Wall came down, where were they? Paddy mistook it for the Great wall of China, Jan guessed that it may have been at some point in the 80's and 'Joyce' came up with the interesting story that she was at a party at the time, and was told about the event? Questionable, but at least she had a decent answer...*cough cough* Paddy lol.

Number three was when England won the Cricket ICC against New Zealand to which 'Josh' replied that he hired out a pub in Devon last year, and tried to follow the Cricket a little bit more this year, but Ella managed to catch him out as she remembered the game from earlier this year. Sorry 'Josh'!

The fourth one was 'right up my street' as people like to say nowadays, and was about the X Factor UK winner back in 2006 (Leona Lewis)...'Sammie' was on the sofa with his mum drinking tea...I didn't catch the other answers.

And last but not least, the players had to say where they all were when one of the members from The Beatles was shot dead outside his house, with 'Joyce' giving such a vague answer that all the other players suspected her of being a catfish..once again! Woody also admitted that he was lucky enough to have had his nappy changed by the man himself!

Ella decided to begin a private conversation with Woody to firstly ask about HOW Paul McCartney was able to change his nappy...Woody said that the McCartney family used to live next door to his family...(but he didn't want to give away who his mother and father were)

Paddy was then curious about getting to know 'Sammie' a little better, and invited her to a group chat. They spoke about Leona Lewis, the fact that they both had doubts about 'Josh' and they both found it weird that Jan didn't know much about the Berlin wall!

Tim decided it was his chance to get to know both 'Joyce' and Jan a little better, and try to work out if they really were who they said they were. He asked them both what they were doing at the end of the 1970's, to which they both replied with different answers. Jan said she was listening to music, going to night clubs and 'rocking Lurex', whilst 'Joyce' said that began searching for a husband at the end of the 70's, and that in the last 10 years she has had a lot of freedom.

*ALERT* - The players were told that they wouldn't get the opportunity to rate in order to decide the influencers, but the public had made one of them a 'secret influencer'; and their identity would not be revealed to the rest of the players. (Jan couldn't become the secret influencer or be blocked from The Circle as she was the newest player).

Woody was the secret influencer and he was given the opportunity to block someone...but he had to do it face-face-face!

To watch The Circle live, it's on every night (apart from Saturday), Channel 4 @ 10/10:15pm!
