Hey everyone,
For today's blog post I thought I would summarise a documentary that has been created by Roman Kemp and his team which is all around men being open around their mental health and speaking out when they are going through a difficult time. The emotional documentary shows the journey of Roman going to meet various young males who have lost family or friends to suicide, sharing the difficulty and sadness that people are having to go through. Roman speaks about his own loss of losing 'Producer Joe' and explained that he had no idea there were any problems.
One of the young boys in the documentary said 'If we're his best mates and we don't know what's going on, then who else will?', hinting at the fact that it's important for people to just be open and honest with their friends, or to at least speak up if they are going through a tough time, rather than suffering alone. We meet Fergus who is a suicide survivor, who discusses how lonely he felt, but explained that he just wanted peace, and is glad that he has managed to make a full recovery, and Roman also visits Producer Joe's family to speak about the loss of their son/brother and how they want to start a charity in Joe's name to get other young males to 'buddy up' and speak about any issues they face, before making a decision which could ultimately be resolved just through talking.
