Rag'n'Bone Man & P!NK 'Anywhere Away From Here' - Music Video Review

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

Hey everyone,

In this new blog post I will reviewing a new collaboration between American singer/songwriter P!NK and Rag'N'Bone Man with a song called 'Anywhere Away From Here' which gives me a hint that they either want to get away from, or travel to a particular destination! Without any further delay, here's my review!

The music video for this song was shot in an empty theatre, and it was good to see both of the artists have their solo shots throughout the entire song. To begin with, there was an incredibly close shot of RNB Man sitting on a chair on the empty stage with spotlights aimed in his direction. He sang the lyrics 'when the lights go up, I don't think I told you (X2), that I feel out of place...' which represents the emotion of fear, and I think it relates to performing on stage infront of lots of people, as it is naturally a scary thing, especially to people that you don't know as you don't know what their reaction will be. He continues by singing 'pull me underground, don't know if you notice, sometimes I close my eyes and dream I'm somewhere else' which explain the emotions that he is feeling before he goes onto the stage, and the importance of closing your eyes, helps you to imagine that you're somewhere different. A lot of singers naturally close their eyes anyway, if they are emotionally invested to a performance, but it's a good tip to avoid looking at an audience too!

During P!NK's verse, you can see her standing at a different location in the theatre, with props and curtina surrounding her in a dark environment. Some of her opening lyrics include the words; 'sold our souls and lost control' which can be seen as quite exaggerate things in this song, but the words 'losing control' hinting at the fact that being on stage and having to perform is something that you are unable to control every aspect of, and things can sometimes go well but they can also go horribly wrong. She adds 'I overthink the obvious when I'm alone' which could mean that she is thinking about things that could possibly go wrong, but when she is in a safe environment with other supportive people around her, she impresses them with her incredible talent. She was wearing quite a dark outfit and showcased her blonde hair which was hanging down onto her face, one of the looks that she is recognised for around the world.

Throughout the video there was also a lot of shots of an owl, a dog who seemed to be dancing around the theatre and scenes showing lots of bright lights. The final part of the song saw both of the artists blending their vocals really nicely together, with P!NK opting for more of the higher notes to bring the song to a close.
