Hey all,
So, I'm sure everybody is familiar with 'The Chase', probably the nations favourite television gameshow at the moment hosted by none other than Bradley Walsh. The premise of the show is to earn as much money as you can in a cash builder, and whoever makes it through to the final is able to play for that amount of money. The only problem is that they are going to try and be caught by a chaser who can send them home, if they get more questions right than the players! One of the chasers on the British version, Paul Sinha has landed a television show of his own called 'Paul Sinha's TV Showdown' and as somebody who's never presented their own show before, I think it's a simple concept for a show but it also works really well!
Paul is joined by team captains Rob Beckett and Fay Ripley and every week they are each joined by 2 celebrities in order to answer questions correctly and ultimately be the team with the most amount of points at the end of the show. Some of the shows guests so far include Denise Van Outen, Janet Street-Porter, Roman Kemp, Russell Kane, Shirley Bassey and AJ Odudu among many others!
The first round is simply a video and question round. Each team are shown a short clip and have to answer 3 questions about what they have just seen, and receive 1pt per correct answer.
The second round shows 3 sets of clues about a character (either fictional or real) and if the teams guess correctly after the first guess, they get 3pts, after the 2nd guess they'll get 2pts and if it takes them all of the guesses, only 1pt for their team! To read the clues, there are a variety of celebrities and entertainers who get involved with the show, including Jonathan Ross, Keith Lemon and even some of the cast from Loose Women!
The third round shows 6 words on a grid and each of the celebrities chooses a word, watches a clip or listens to an audio snippet, and they have to answer 1 question which will have a 'vague connection' to the original word (Paul's phrasing not mine!).
The final round is quickfire questions, where each of the teams have to answer 12 questions within 60 seconds (and if they don't know an answer they can say pass). Each of the 4 guest celebrities goes first, and the celebrities try and win the most points for their team. At the end, the final scores are revealed and one team wins, and the other comes 2nd...which is still respectable! But there are only 2 teams...
I really like the concept of this new show, and if you haven't watched it yet, it's on from 22:05pm to 22:50pm every Saturday night for the release of its initial 6 episode series!
