Little Mix 'Love (Sweet Love)' - Music Video Review

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

Hey everyone,

For today's music video, I will be watching Little Mix's new single called 'Love (Sweet Love)' which was released on 3rd September 2021! Below is my review!

To begin the music video, there was a shot of a black gate with the camera panning from the top to the bottom which sees a group of men walking through and looking at the environment that they have walked in. There is a shot that shows the entire venue which shows an expensive main property with lots of modern additions to the house, along with lots of trees, grass and other colourful items. The men walk in with smiles on their faces and they are stunned to see the three ladies sitting on chairs, about to perform a song to explaint that they don't need a man to make them happy. Leigh-Anne starts of the track, followed by Jade who sings the line 'I don't need your love to love me' which is a clear representation behind the morals of the three women who now want to love themselves, rather than needing any form of validity from anyone else.

There are lots of different camera angles showing them all sitting on their chairs, the boys with smiles on their faces, trying to impress the girls with their dance moves, and also there are a lot of females in the background wearing colourful outfits and dancing alongside the royal trio as they are presented in the music video. Perrie sings the lyrics 'I've been spending time on everybody else, time I did it for myself' which was shortly followed by some of the topless dancers performing again in the middle of the set, clearly showing Perrie and Leigh-Anne still pregnant before the birth of their children earlier this year. Leigh-Anne sings the lyrics 'I'm gonna give it to me' with Perrie yawning, which almost hints that they don't want to keep dealing with the negative energy or perceptions that women always need a man to love them, as it's not true, and women are getting tired of it.

The next scene was Jade's solo where similarly to the other girls, explained that she wanted to 'spend a little more time on me', adding that 'I like him, but he ain't nothin' but a guy to me'. This could represent that although she has found an attraction towards a particular guy, she's going to treat him just like any other guy, as she may also be sick and tired of the stereotypes. She goes on to explain that for tonight she's feeling selfish, and it's never a bad thing to have a bit of time to yourself. Leigh-Anne goes on to explain that what she does shouldn't faze you, adding that 'it's human nature' which was shortly followed by the trio performing the final chorus with various riffs and extra vocals, accompanied by lots more of the dancers performing, a variety of shots and the male dancers falling to the floor.

The final part of the music video saw Perrie have her solo where she explained that 'I'm the one and only, no one knows me like I know me' which is a very honest statement, because no matter how much someone loves you as a friend, family member of individual, nothing beats self love. She further explained that she doesn't need a man to hold her and that she wasn't asking for help, showing that she is quite capable to be in control of her own emotions
