Hey everyone!
In today's music video I will be reviewing a new single by Jake Miller, and it's called 'ADDERALL'. I don't really know what that means, but the song popped up in my YouTube recommended, so I thought I would review it before it disappeared!
I must just say that I'm unsure why the song isn't called 'Focus' or 'Focus on Me' because those seem to be the lyrics that are sung throughout the entire song, but I really liked this song! I've seen videos of Jake before, but never actually sat down to review one of his videos...until now! At the beginning, there were some nice introduction shots of watches and clocks, with a short shot of a CD being flipped round to show his name and the title of the song, which was a really creative way to introduce the music. He is wearing a Nirvana t shirt and also a black cap (which he is wearing backwards). Some of the opening lyrics include 'you charge me up like a Tesla' which could identify that he's now full of energy, after spending time with this individual. He goes on to say that he's 'locked in the studio all night' explaining that he's not seen the outside world in over 3 days. This could probably be because he's been writing so much new music since being in lockdown, with some of those songs written for his special lady!
There are a lot of creative shots, including a 360 degree periscope camera which makes it seem like he's in a little bubble! Jake sings the words 'it's never hard to focus on you', which could simply mean that with writing songs, he always has to plan, think of ideas and piece things together when he's in the zone, but with this lucky person, he doesn't need to focus, because they're always in his mind. The video transitions to some shots of Jake sitting outside with the sun and surrounded by some lovely trees, singing the words 'girl you're on your grind too, that's why I f*cking love you' - and this is probably one of the traits he is looking for in a potential partner, because although they're not together all the time, they are both working on their own content, music or ways to develop their lives, and this is a tick in Jake's book! Throughout the last part of the music video, there are lots of polaroid images and CV discs hanging from the ceiling, explaining that this is the music zone! In the final shots whilst Jake is singing, there are also lots of splashes of colour in green, purple and yellow among others, that appear on the screen, almost like scientific explosions, helping to add some flavour to the video! At the end of the video, there is a 'polaroid collage' with little images of him from all different angles, which create a puzzle piece out of himself! With a cheeky smile at the end of the video, the screen goes blank and the video ends! Shame he didn't blow me a kiss, but there's always next time!
