Jackie Weaver 'Kicked Him Out' - Music Video Review

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

Hello everyone!

In today's music video review, I am going to be listening and reviewing the first music video and song by Parish council stand-in Jackie Weaver herself, with help from Helefonix's Helen Meissner and her husband Joe Rose! Mrs Weaver rose to fame when a Zoom meeting which Jackie referred to as 'usually being quite boring' was sent across the Internet, after she had taken control and removed some distracting members who refused to let Jackie take control of the meeting! So, here's my written review!

At the beginning of the music video, the song started with opening rock beats which seemed to include a guitar, and a variety of the famous phrases from the meeting that she was part of, including 'no authority here Jackie Weaver'. Jackie goes on to sing the words 'as long as we have reasonable behavious, no one will be excluded from this meeting', adding that if not, she will remove them. Some of the other popular phrases include 'have you read the standing orders' and 'read and understand them!' which are shouted at her by one of the other members of the committee - and he was later kicked out of the meeting! I think the most powerful thing about this meeting going viral, is what happens behind closed doors within these types of meetings, and the fact that Jackie was only trying to do her job, and the disrespect she received actually worked to her advantage as she's now seen as an Internet sensation and also has become one of the most popular faces of 2021!

Some of the final lyrics in the song are 'will you make the change, do you want to make the change, can you help us make the change', which are all rhetorial questions that Jackie seems to be asking the general public, and if they feel like they would be able to voice opinions of their local councils and constituents, then they can apply to be a councillor themselves! On the link to the YouTube video, Helen has written 'Let’s Make A Change! The serious message behind this fun track is unfortunately a necessary reminder that we still need to ‘call out’ this kind of bullying misogynistic behaviour and challenge the status quo. Dismissive behaviour pervades society from the House of Commons and spills into our living rooms via our TV screens. We need more people from all walks of life to truly represent their communities' and I think this is a really important factor to think about, as bullying and misogynistic behaviour will not be tolerated anywhere, and people won't get what they want, by causing offense to others.

I think the music video was absolutely incredible, and I'm sure Jackie Weaver will end up getting signed to a record label at some point, or she'll end up having a full album out soon...because that's usually what happens with Internet stars, as they just keep on going and going and going! But for a debut single, I think the team that worked on this track put it together incredibly well!
