Hey all,
I decided to make a blog post summarising what happened after the 15 episodes of The Cabins were aired on ITV2. Clara Amfo hosted this show with the help of Ibiza Weekender's David Potts, to see if any of the 8 cabin couples were still together. We found out what happened to some of the other spoken about lovers who left the cabins alone! (If you don't want spoilers...don't read on, but if you'd like to know what happened, read below!).
Throughout this episode, we found out some extra details about each of the couples and 'what happened next' so below is my little summary of what was covered.
First, it was the turn of Tom & Olivia to discuss what happened since they both left the cabin (as a cabin couple). Clara asked whether it was a 'holiday romance' or whether anything went further into the 'real deal', to which Tom replied '100% holiday romance' as Olivia didn't even give her number to him, and he had to find her on social media. Olivia mentioned that it was Tom's sister in law who messaged Olivia to let her know that Tom was in a secret relationship with somebody else outside of the villa - but Tom quickly called her out, stating that she didn't reply to his message. I must say that I thought they both got on really well, and they both had amazing personalities, but I did think Tom was a little bit arrogant at times, but I with them both the best of luck on the next part of their future dating!
We then found out some brief information about some of the other couples who weren't present at the reunion, and had recorded video tapes about their cabin life. Clinton & Loryn spoke about how they didn't spend much time together in the cabin, but Loryn said that 'he invited himself back to mine, and made dinner'...and then the next part of the video tape showed Clinton admitting he was 'definitely single' and that Loryn is back on Tinder, 'back on the dating scene'. Amani & Tyrelle explained that there were awkward moments when they were eating together, and Tyrelle added that there was no sort of connection after the cabins, and if they stayed longer...it wouldn't have been real. Amani added that he seemed more like 'an older brother' than a potential partner. The third couple that were summarised through the video tapes were Nathan & Alex. Alex admitted that she did fancy him, but it 'took a lot of time to tell him how I really felt' and Nathan stated that they got 'hell of a lot closer', and going into the cabins, he didn't think he could find someone, and it hit him like 'oh my god', she was the one...so they're taking it slow, but it's not all over!
Up next in the hot seats were Will & Holly, to which Clara introduced him as 'resident knicker sniffer' as that one one part of the show that made people a little freaked out! Holly admitted that her first impressions of Will were that he was 'fit, but then he did look like my ex' which Will added a comment onto, stating that he must have been a good looking chap if he looked like her ex...He said that he felt like he initially went into the friendzone because Holly's guard was up, and they became good friends within the first night, which Holly added...it's almost like they skipped the flirting part and were just an old married couple...minus the marriage bit. Will also mentioned that it's quite difficult to live with him, so the fact that Holly took care of him for 72 hours was an achievement in itself, and Clara picked up on the fact that Will hadn't create a '3 course meal' but in fact it was a microwave meal, and Holly had no idea, because 'I've never eaten a pasta bake in my life before'. She also stated that she couldn't have been in the cabin with anyone better...it's like she's the annoying girlfriend, without actually being his girlfriend. Will's final comment was that they would probably have a lot of fun going out partying, they've not really spoken about more than that...and that they're good friends at the moment! We'll see if anything more happens with them both, but they were very entertaining and great to watch!
The next couple to answer questions about their time in the cabins were Corben, (Gigi) & Rhys. Clara started the interview by mentioning that Gigi the dog is a mood for life. She asked what it was like being in the cabin compared to real life, and Rhys said that 'You spend so much time talking to people over message, but somebody you've never met walks in and you have to try and make an impression quickly' - which was probably one of the most difficult things there is to do, especially when you don't know what they're going to look like or if their personality is going to match yours. Corben stated that he felt like he's known Rhys for a long time as they managed to get on so well, but admitted to drinking a little bit too much, and after watching the show back, he was horrifed and is never drinking again. Rhys joked and said 'You had a drink after the show?' - to which Corben replied, 'No rum, just had a glass of wine. He went on to say that he's usually quite flow at getting to know someone, and wants more than just a sexual partner. Clara, and many of the cabin fans compared him to the high profile/presenting career of Rylan Clark-Neal who seemed to be his celebrity lookalike - and Rylan sent in a video congratulating him on his journey in the cabins, admitting it took him a long time to find love, but 'you can't not find love if you look like this'...bit of a confidence boost for Corben I hope as he does seem like a genuine lad! Rhys finally said that they have an incredible friendship and don't want to do anything to ruin that, and Corben added that he was glad that he did the experience and met Rhys...but I don't think anything romantically is going to happen between them.
David introduced a game for both Corben & Rhys to play which was called 'find the flirt' which saw them both taking it in turns to read out quotes said between some of the other couples, and see if either of their heart rates went up or down. The quotes included 'I don't really want to get close to you, incase I kiss you by accident' which is what Mamudo said to Robyn, 'You've definitely got a good technique, you're definitely good at handling balls...which is what Robyn said back to Mamudo. David quickly shouted 'it's going up' to which Rhys said 'The heart rate, or...?' It was Corben's next quote that caused the heart rates to change when he said 'You've got a proper novelty look about you' which is what Nathan said to Alex, and finally Rhys' quote for Corben, 'You know what I haven't tried that I'd like to do...wear you like a scarf, which is what Tom said to Olivia. That sent both of their heart beats up and David added a jokey comment 'Of course it was Tom who made your heart rates go through the roof!'
The next three couples who had their cabin journeys showed in video format were Daisy & Curtis, who quickly fell in and out of love. Once leaving the cabins, Daisy said 'the longer we stayed there, I thought something could blossom...and after we left, Curtis lost all interest in me'...with Curtis also stating that Daisy 'left me on read on Christmas Day' so that was an obvious sign that neither of them were going to continue their romance. Next it was models Ryan & April to spill the beans on what had happened to their romance. Ryan stated that 'seeing April, was the highlight for me' and he further explained that they have formed a support bubble with eachother so that they can continue seeing eachother regularly, and excited to see what's going to happen! Finally it was over to Liam & Andras to explain if there was a potential for any future romance. Liam said that 'every second we were speaking, we were learning about eachother' and Andras said that he wants to see where it's going, but they seem to be getting closer and closer. Liam added that it seemed like they were a long distance Romeo and Juliet (or I might have misheard that) - but said that there are 'no labels' on what they are at the moment, but the way that it's going, it's very possible something could happen. Andras' final comment was that he was excited to see what the future holds...'maybe it could end up in a relationship...and I've still not had my first yet'.
Up next to discuss their time in the cabins were Jordan & Eden. Initially Jordan said that it was difficult going in, but easy to get on with Eden and Eden said that it was 'nice to meet Jordan, and hopefully I've given him some good tips'. Clara revealed that Jordan's had a lot of love outside of the cabin and Eden jokingly said that he's had loads of 'date offers, and his calendar's booked till next year' to which Jordan said 'Yeah?'...as he was probably a little embarrased! Eden described him like a mini Ed Sheeran and Jordan had a little 'surprise' for Eden, which was a special live performanc of a song he wrote inspired by his time in the cabins, called 'Being Yourself'. It included lyrics such as 'I tried to impress but impressing is lonely', 'give me time' and something along the lines of 'sometimes good guys need a second chance' or 'they need to be understood...all things he experienced whilst he was in the cabins, but also memories he will probably never forget about! Eden replied 'Wow, I'm the inspiration, I've never had a song written about me before!' - but I think they'll be remaining as friends for now...Jordan's got other girls he can crack on with getting to know!
Nina & Ade were the next couple to answer questions about whether their relationship has continued or not. Nina said that he was definitely very confident and talkative, but she 'couldn't shut him up' and admitted he had really good banter, leading to instant chemisty. Ade pretty much mirrored the same feeling, stating that she was a lovely girl, very pretty, personality was good and being in lockdown, thrown into a room with somebody else, meant that you could actually take things further if you wanted to! Nina added that they're not together anymore as although she admits to fancying him, he isn't very good at communicating, answering the phone and is lazy. Clara asked how long it would take him to reply if she sent a message on Monday...and she said Wednesday/Thursday which is 3 days too long in my opinion...Ade also said that after they left the cabin, he felt like he didn't want to progress with anthing serious, with Nina adding 'we have established a good friendship for now, I don't know what the future holds'. Ade finished up by saying 'stay tuned for the next episode of...' before everyone started giggling and the interview was over!
It was over to David to do a little 'behind the scenes' video and see what each of the cabins looked like in real life. He said he was able to 'blend in easily' to none of the daters who spot him...whilst wearing a pink jacket and speeding along in a tractor! He first went to have a look at 'Otters Pocket' where he saw 'an actual couple on an actual date' - and was spotted by Clinton in the process! He then visited 'Beavers Burrow' looking through the fridge and freezer in the kitchen, eating sme cheese slices and adding his personal messages to the guestbook with previous messages from Mamudo & Robyn for example, with their hashtag #Ramudo. After taking some 'test run' selfies, he added a picture of his chin into the guestbook (What a great picture to look back on lol!). Finally, he checked out the 'magic bed' which had the most action out of all the cabins, and wished that Anthony Joshua would appear next to him naked...which obviously didn't happen, and he even had time for a quick swim in the hot tub before finishing up his video tape!
The second to late couple to answer some questions were Mamudo & Robyn, who had their first kiss after 2 hours and 14 minutes into their first day (as pointed out by Clara). Mamudo's first impressions of Robyn were that she was very goodf looking, and as they began chatting more, he found her more attractive. He went on to say that Robyn seemed quite open from the geto go...and when it was the right time to kiss her, he thought 'let me just push for that'. Robyn stated that she's dated people in the past who didn't like football...and it showed. Her perfect night is a 'Sunday afternoon, wanting to watch football and eat pizza...and he ticks that box!'. Mamudo revealed he didn't want to reveal his career in football as sometimes girls want to pursue them for the wrong reasons...so he wanted to go in there and be himself; 'be me for me'. Robyn replied and said 'He's acting like he plays for the premier league' - to which all of the other cabin daters sighed and started giggling about!
Robyn added that they are not together anymore by shaking her head, admitting that they are both 'different people' and it wasn't like it was in the cabin when they first came out, with Mamudo saying that he was busy. He stuck up for himself and said that Robyn overthinks things a little bit - before Robyn quickly stated that they were talking during the episodes, and were seeing all the nice comments people were messaging them, and it was Mamudo who said 'we shouldn't pick things up again'. He said that he's the type of person that is honest, straight to the point, 'direct like debit', and maybe it would be good to reconsider the decision of getting back together, but dismissed the claims that Robyn made about 'not wanting to pick things up'. To finish the interview, Robyn said that she wanted to stay friends, acknowledged that the public were rooting for them and she hoped they could both get through it...but now she's not sure, and Mamudo finished the interview by stating 'A conversation can be had'.
Before the final couple came to speak about their experiences, Cabin dater Jess and David Potts sang a little rendition of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!'
Charlotte & Sarah, the first couple to be introduced to us in the series came to speak about their journey so far and what's happened since they left as a cabin couple! Clara began the interview by asking them what they'd missed most about the cabins. Charlotte said 'the luxury' and explained that she ended up driving them back to Sarah's house in Liverpool, meeting her family anad staying the night. Sarah then stayed at her's for 4 nights, bringing flowers and vodka and basically spending a few nights over the Christmas holidays with her (in a bubble, as Charlotte lives alone!). 6 weeks after leaving the cabin, they both got matching beer pong/cup tattoos at the tattoo lounge...and they are still together! Sarah went on to say that sometimes she can't even take a bath without Charlotte being there, or whilst Charlotte is making a cup of tea, she'll send a text saying 'I miss you' - and they both admitted that they both make themselves sick, but they have a great connection with one another. Sarah also added that she thought Char was a bit of a party animal, but instead she's more interested in just having fun, rather than being 'alcohol fuelled. On their first televised date since the show, Sarah admitted that this was 'genuinely the best thing to happen to me...not being with you for a week did tell me that...I love you' to which Charlotte quickly replied and said 'I don't know what to say...I love you to'. They both went on to admit that neither of them expected to find love, but they have to think about how lucky they are, and that they are both genuinely so happy. Clara ended the interview by saying 'Here's evidence of true love on the cabins...it's been quite the rollercoaster, it's been quite the 'J' word, quite the journey!'
I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post, but that was it for the summary of the show! If anybody has any thoughts, opinions or anything they would like to add, you're welcome to message me on social media, reply or comment on this post...or share for other people to read it! Thanks a bunch, and I'll be back with another blog post very soon!
