Hey everyone!
Vernon Kay's new entertainment show has just started on ITV and it's called 'Game of Talents' which showcases 8 talents in each episode for 2 teams to try and guess. Each contestant is joined by a celebrity, and in this episode the pairs were Shumi, a mum of 3 from Dagenham who will give some of her winnings to charity, and putting the rest of the winnings towards a mortgage, and her celebrity pair is Craig Revel Horwood. The second team is Ryan, who is a hairdresser from Essex who wants to treat his mum to a holiday, and he's working with Tess Daly, who's the wife of host Vernon!
We were introduced to 'The Talent Board' which listed 8 talents; Rock Guitarist, Ventriloquist, Carnival Dancer, The World's Loudest Burper, Yodeller, Dog Agility Expert, Opera Singer and a Theremin Player. Up first was Ewan and Vernon asked Ryan & Tess if they wanted to play or pass! Their clue was in the form of a video tape which showed ITV's Charlene White explaining about action man's Arnold Schwarznegger, the idea of cheese having holes and talking about Tina Turner's 'River Deep Mountain High'! Vernon then introduced the money balls ranging in value from £500 to £10,000 and we found out that Ewan was in fact a yodeller, with the clues being countries that yodelling happens in, including Austria and Switzerland, where cheese originates from, and they aded £1,000 to their prize pot!
Shumi & Craig were up next to guess 12 year old Taylor's talent, and her mum said in her video tape that Taylor had 'been doing this since 5 years old' and explained that she needed her hands, her brain and her voice, with the pair thinking she was a ventriloquist. Craig added that 'one ball is shining brighter than the rest' but Taylor was infact a dog agility expert, so the £5,000 that they had chosen at random, went into Ryan & Tess's bank. Some of the clues included that Taylor followed in her mother's 'lead' and there were also biscuits sitting on the dinner table! Ryan & Tess were then able to guess what 51 year old Paul's talent was from Essex, which he said he learnt at Primary school and it was over to Lorraine to give some clues, including interviewing Bucks Fizz for world domination, tips on being able to cut gas bills in half and Gail Platt was going to speak about her life on the cobbles, and they guessed that he was a loud burper! Tess went to choose a money ball and Ryan said 'pick me a good one!' and after pretending to start performing a rock song, he did a massive burp instead, and Tess managed to add another £10,000 in the post, taking them upto £16,000. The clues included fizzy pop making you break wind, 'turn up the volume' and saving money on a 'gas' bill, with Ryan stating that 'my nerves are doing somersaults!'
Nathan from London who worked in human resources was up next, and the collection of clues were from children who said that somebody doing this talent get hot and sweaty, they do it with their friends, they get cold, use their muscles, probably eat cereal for breakfast, you can do it anywhere, there's lots of colourful costumes involved and you walk down the street. Shumi & Craig correctly guessed that he was a carnival dancer and were able to add £3,000 into their bank! Vernon added a new money ball worth £20,000 and the next person to have their talent guessed was 26 year old Rickie who has completed a masters degree and performed her skill in front of the Mayor of London. Ryan & Tess initially thought that she was either a Theremin Player or an Opera Singer but with the picture clues that they were shown, Tess said 'that face is The Rock, and the 2nd face is Sylvester Stallone?' so they used the 'rock and rocky' clues to guess that she was in fact a rock guitarist. Craig said 'Let's hope they're wrong and she picks up the £20k' but they were right, and added another £2,000 to their prize pot, now at £18,000! Vernon revealed that that the picture clues were of Dwayne Johnson & Chris Rock, and Sylvester Stallone & Emma Stone.
The next guess was for Shumi & Craig, and the performer was called Susie, who admitted to performing her special talent on the 4th plinth at Trafalgar Square in London. Shumi asked whether the song she walked on to was part of the clue, 'I'm walking on sunshine, was that song a clue to do with it?'. They were shown clues from a 'Dear Diary' book which included the story of a TV antenna being 'blown off the roof', and the fact that she decided to eat pie and chips. They decided to guess that her talent was a Theremin Player, with Craig adding 'we need this!' and they were correct, earning the new money ball £20,000, taking their total upto £23,000! The clues included 'sound of the waves', the TV antenna and 'the remin' which isn't a food item, but is infact the title with a space between the words.
Vernon added another moneyball to the game which was £50,000 and all to play for! The next performer's talent to guess was 21 year old Max who explained that he does his talent for a living and his 'biggest talent to date was at the Opera house'. The video clue showed an Instagram account called @MaxOnStage with one of the comments including 'my lips are sealed'. Both pairs chose ventriloquist and Vernon revealed that if they were both right, it would depend on what money ball they had selected, but if they were both wrong, Shumi would go through to the final round! Max was a ventriloquist so it was down to the money balls that both Ryan and Shumi had chosen. Ryan added £7,000 to his bank, bringing him to a total of £25,000 and Shumi added £500 taking her upto £23,500!
Ryan & Tess were through to the final, and the final performer was in fact an Opera Singer, but Ryan had to pick which of the line up was in fact the singer, and who were the 3 fakes. The potential people included Harvey from London who was scouted by a modelling company, Vincent a 38 year old, Ron from South London who has met members of the royal family and an Italian guy who I couldn't understand (but he was super fit!)...and it would have been too obvious if he was the real singer. Vernon asked Ryan whether he wanted to play for the full prize of £23,500 or make it easier for him to win half the prize fund by halving the amount of people to choose from. 2 of the fake singers were removed and it was over to Ryan & Tess to correctly choose between Vincent or Ron, to help Ryan win £12,500. Tess explained 'these are the guys we couldn't decide between' with Ryan adding 'what do you think Tess, do you think we've done it?'. Ron was in fact the real opera singer, with Ryan adding 'I've never won anything in my life!' and he went home with £12,500!
Overall, I think this is a great show and it's interesting to see how quickly people can be judged on how they look or sound, when in fact, you need to expect the unexpected when it comes to secret talents! It was a very entertaining show to watch, and it's on every week on ITV for an hour, so if you're into guessing games, competing with friends and family or just want something fun to do in the evening...put Vernon's new show on!
