'Get Out' (2017) - Film Review

Updated: Apr 9, 2023

Hey everyone!

In today's post I thought I would write a quick review of a film I've only just managed to watch (all the way back from 2017 when it was first released!). The film 'Get Out' seems to show us the lives of two lovers; a young white female called Rose, and a young black male called Chris. All is not all is what it seems when she invites him to her family house, without explaining that Chris is her first black boyfriend. Throughout their stay at the family home, Chris starts to notice some weird things happening to the black people within the household, such as the groundsman and the waitress (who we soon find out are the deceased Grandad and Grandma of the family who have been brought back in another form), along with the creepy behaviour from the mum, dad, brother and also of Rose herself seemingly to appear out of the middle of nowhere.

In the end, Chris manages to escape the situation and be reunited with his friend Rod, but it's definitely a story that you wouldn't even be able to begin explaining to somebody because it just sounds so fictional (which thankfully it was!). It was a great film with lots of twists and turns, and I'm glad that the innocent main character survived, especially after the hidden secrets he was able to discover in the family house during his stay there!
