'Every Day' (2018) - Film Review

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

Hey!

So, I'm one of those people that likes to try and stay current, but sometimes that doesn't work out to plan...I have wanted to watch this film for SO long, but never actually got round to watching it...until now. I'm just going to put this out there, that it's such a great film, but I'm so sad it only lasted for just over an hour and thirty minutes!

The basic summary of the story without giving too much away, is that Rhiannon and her boyfriend are the main characters in the film, but their relationship isn't exactly the smoothest, but then suddenly one day, he invites her out during a lunch break at school to hang out privately...They have a great conversation and she reveals some personal information to Justin (the boyfriend), before kissing, and both revealing their mutual fortune of having nice lips! At the end of the day, she thinks she's had a lovely day, but after questioning Justin in class, he doesn't remember a thing! Rhiannon is introduced to new girl 'Amy' who strokes her hair in the same way that Justin did, feels confused and leaves the class, trying to think about what has just happened...

At lunch time she receives a text from a mystery number asking her to meet in private, to which her friend tells her to do...She ends up meeting a girl called 'Megan' who reveals that she was inside Justin's body on their date, and in fact it was her that was inside Amy's body as the new girl, and that she cannot control who's body she wakes up in, but the same emotions and personality is there...but the body is only active for 24 hours, and she can never return to the same body. It's a reoccuring concept in the movie, where Rhiannon is constantly being shocked with a new body, but the same mystery character, who names themselves 'A' and has a private Instagram account where they post images of the different bodies they have no control of taking over for one day only.

Rhiannon is caught kissing 'Nathan' who later reveals at school that he remembers Rhiannon, but unsure what happened on the night his body was 'possessed' and she is also able to persuade 'Kelsea' not to take her own life after witnessing a variety of self harm images in her sketchbook...'A' is able to stay inside Kelsea's body and get her help, but before you know it, she's in somebody else's body!

Towards the end of the film, she meets 'Alexander' a.k.a. one of 'A''s many bodies, and they build a great connection, almost too great, that 'A' reveals she should be with the real Alexander as he is tall, slim, smart and has nice shoulders...all things that she likes in a man! At the end, Alexander tells Rhiannon that she's got a nice smile, they walk off and into the distance, and the final shot of the film shows 'A's Instagram account with an image captured whilst inside Alexander's body...so who knows? Is 'A' still Alexander? Or does Alexander REALLY choose Rhiannon to be the lucky girl!?!?! Not sure, it's a bit of a confusing ending, but if this post hasn't already given away too much of the story, or if it's made you slightly intrigued, then I would definitely recommend watching it...somewhere!

Oh yeah, and it wouldn't be a proper Brandon-style post if I didn't add the names of some of the hot actors in the film...

Lucas Jade Zumann - who plays 'Nathan'

Colin Ford - who plays 'Xavier'

and Charles Vandervaart - who plays 'Steve'

Alright, take care all! I'll be back with another film review at some point in the future!
