The 8 acts that performed in the fourth semi finals were;
Billy and Chantelle
Jasper Cherry
Chineke! Junior Orchestra
Jon Courtenay
Kevin Quantum
Papi Flex
Katherine and Joe O'Malley and
Belinda Davids
The first act to perform was 'Billy and Chantelle' who showed a dark side to their dancing, compared to the elegant style from their audition round! Being best friends for so many years, they had a lot of connection, energy and power in their performance, with Ashley Banjo saying there was more chemistr bwteen the two of them, compared to large dance groups! They are so young but also so talented, but let's see if their performance was enough for them to get to the final!
Next to perform was the 'Chineke! Junior Orchestra' who performed a variety of songs including; 'Uptown Funk' by Bruno Mars and 'Shape of You', by Ed Sheeran along with some other classical songs that I didn't recognise! The performance was very vibrant, and the group of talented musicians will 'change the way people see this type of music' according to Alesha Dixon! Will they 'fiddle' their way into the BGT finale???
The next act of the night was by the alternative couple 'Katherine and Joe O'Malley' who performed a variety of different performances back in 2018, 2019 (as Elsa and the bear) and then in 2020 as the little mermaid, and FINALLY got themselves to the semi finals!
Katherine, I mean...Elsa, appeared on the stage in her snowflake inspired outfit to perform a song from Frozen, a favourite with the children (and some adults)...her husband then appeared on the stage as Olaf, the dancing snowman! It was a very entertaining performance, but Alesha decided to buzz RIGHT at the end because she missed the crab? Anyways, the cold never bothered Katherine and Joe anyway!
Act 4, risk taker and magician 'Kevin Quantum' took to the stage! His performance began with showing an illusion with the ring on his finger...then he moved onto an eletrical machine where he made a circuit with all 4 of the judges, Ant and also himself! The managed to 'charge up the pylons' and then he disappeared, ending up behind David's red buzzer at the desk! Alesha commented on the 'interesting environment in the room' which I agree with, and although there wasn't too much magic performed, the whole dramatic vibe around the performance was still really well put together (including the background music which was also played!)...
Act Number 5 was 'John Courtenay', a singer/songwriter, who was also Ant & Dec's golden buzzer! His original song 'When I was a boy' was dedicted to his parents, and it was a very different type of performance...as he was speaking most of the words...but it was very entertaining! Singing about the best duos, he included This Morning's Holly & Phil, and his own parents Carolyn & Ivan who taught him to 'reach for the stars' which is what he is going to do now! I think his performance was the most unique of the night so far, and definitely the most personal from all of the semi final acts that have performed so far!
At 14 years of age, 'Jasper Cherry' was another magician who took to the semi final stage, and was the 6th act of the night! He asked Ashley Banjo to start recording on his phone, with all of the judges waving to the camera...David Walliams chose a card which happened to be the 5 of Diamonds...but then it appeared on the video which was filmed two minutes earlier, and then in Ashley's pocket? I have no idea how the magic happened, but Jasper came across so confident and brought the high level talent off perfectly - according to Ashley Banjo who said 'he is a star now, but it would scare him, what he is going to be able to do in the future'...
'Papi Flex' was act number 7 of the night! Unfortunately he wasn't able to be on the tage for his performance, so a pre filmed video was showed to the judges (filmed at a graveyard in Berlin)...The performance was very creepy, with a variety of cracks, turns and weirdly jointed body parts, but according to the judges it was performed very well! Amanda commented on the fact that he's a very handsome young man, but the act was just incredibly scary...to which David added that this was a child friendly show, but it's something that would scare the kids and should be done in front of a mirror rather than on the stage...so a mixed review, but we can't deny the fact that he is a great (and quite scary) dancer!
The 8th and final act of the night was 'Belinda Davids' 43, a South African singer, who brought the night's entertainment to a powerful end! She was the very last contestant to audition for the show and got a standing ovation at the end of her audition!
With her love for Whitney Houston, what better way to celebrate the goddess of music, than performing one of her most famous songs, 'I Have Nothing'! Wearing a bright red tight dress, her voice was a winner with the judges, the audience, and I must say that I had a tear fall from my eye, because it was so beautiful! Last to perform at the auditions and last to perform at the semi finals, but a performance I will never forget about...Belinda Davids, remember the name! David Walliams described some of the songs as 'mountains to climb' and said that Belinda honoured her in the best way possible by allowing the legacy to continue!
My top three acts from this evening:
John Courtenay (Singer), Papi Flex (Dancer) and Belinda Davids (Singer)
Performing 'Good Morning Baltimore' and 'You Can't Stop The Beat'; the cast of Hairspray alongside Michael Ball took to the stage, with the colourful lights, outfits and smiles on all of their faces! After the colourful performance, it was over to the judges to reveal who their top three acts were!
The judges chose their top three acts...
JOHN COURTENAY, BELINDA DAVIDS and JASPER CHERRY
The judges had to pick their favourite act to send to the finale...
David Walliams chose JOHN COURTENAY
Alesha Dixon chose BELINDA DAVIDS
Ashley Banjo chose JOHN COURTNAY
Amanda Holden chose JOHN COURTENAY, and he was the fourth act to make it to the Britain's Got Talent finale!
And that's Episode 4 complete!
