The 8 acts that performed in the third semi finals were; Sign Along With Us,
Bhim Niroula,
Dario Grappeggia,
Ember Trio, Sirine Jahangir,
X1X Crew,
Magical Bones and
Myra Dubois!
The first act of the night was 'Myra Dubois'...not a man in drag! She was joined on stage by Amanda Holden, who performed alongside Miss Dubois. So I wasn't sure what the act was, but I believe it was a comedy act which was actually very funny. During the song, she stopped Amanda from singing, letting the audience know that 'her part of the song' is coming, but then didn't actually sing. It was a great act to start the night off but what else is to come?
The second act of the night was 'Magical Jones', a 38 year old magician (inspired by Henry Box Brown) originally from London. His magical trick dated back to one that was performed over 100 years ago! Along with that, he can dance, he's funny, he's an attractive guy...and he even showed us how you can make a girl appear through a door (as well as making his girlfriend and son appear too!). A variety of words that Ashley Banjo used included 'creativity', 'innovation' and 'swag' to describe the performance!
The first musical act of the night was 'Ember Trio', a triplet of cello players! Firstly, with any band there's always one person that stands out straightaway, and I must say that I cannot keep my eyes off of Tom from London! Anyways back to the music! The theme tune was very recognisable straightaway and I realised it was 'Gangster's Paradise'! The musical set was colourful, dramatic and intense and they sounded really well together. Amanda could smell metal, but I can smell a finale space? Maybe? Either way, they all look amazing and it's definitely a BGT first!
The next act to perform were 'Sign Along With Us', a sign language group who initially started their group to help communicate with Christian, but then more and more people got involved and there's now over 50 of them! The song that they performed was Cyndi Lauper's 'True Colours' which was a great song choice to pick as it's such a powerful song! With colourful t shirts and a background video, it's definitely a performance that will not be forgotten!
Act number 5 was 'Dario Grappeggia', the keyboard playing Dinosaur! At first, it seemed a little strange...but then it's another one of those acts that has never really been seen before! It looked like the Dinosaur had a tube in his throat and it felt like I was at an EDM (electronic dance music night) mixed with a tad of Hindi music? Both Alesha and David buzzed the cute little dragon as the performance wasn't to their taste, and three of the judges admitted the performance was 'rubbish'. It looks like little dino won't be making it to the final, but it is definitely going to be another one of those memorable performances of 2020!
The next performer was 'Sirine Jahangir', a 15 year old singer from London who started losing her vision at 7 years old which is such an unfortunate thing, but it helped her to appreciate and enjoy music a lot more, so her story makes her an inspiration to other young people wanting to pursue a career in music, but struggling with their own problems! I'm not sure what song she was singing, but her piano was surrounded by butterflies and purple smoke which brought an elegant feel to her performance! She's another one of those singers with such an amazingly powerful voice at such a young age, and although she admitted to being nervous, she managed to get through her performance (just about), before bursting into tears on the closing line! I believe this showed how much she cared about the performance so I think she would definitely be a good act for the final.
The seventh act was the 'X1X Crew', a dance crew originally from Mumbai, India! Due to the current coronavirus guidelines, the routine was pre filmed in India and shown to the judges on the screen! One part of the performance incolved 9 of the dancers jumping onto the backs of some of the other dancers, which requires a lot of training, the ability to balance and syncronisation! It was a great performance with an amazing backdrop and there were so many things going on at the same time. Let's see if they're able to get to the final, and if they would start using knives, fire or deep water tanks? We never know what we could see on live television!
The eighth and final act for the night was 'Bhim Niroula', hotel manager by day, singer by night! Sunday morning loving, Monday morning loving! It sounds like he's got a lot of love to give to his wife! The performance was very colourful, and included his own personl DJ, a squad full of dancers and floating heart balloons that filled the stage with happiness! I'm not sure he's the best singer I have heard on the show, but definitely very entertaining to say the least!
My top three acts from this evening:
Sirine Jahangir (Singer), Ember Trio (Cello Players) and Myra Dubois (Drag Comedian)
Another show finished, another performance! This week it was a song called 'Lasting Lover' by 'Sigala featuring James Arthur' (who was the X Factor UK winner back in 2012!). The performance saw them both standing in a circular shape, surrounded by bright lights and mystical dancers! It's the newest collaboration to be added to my Spotify playlist, and the chorus is filled with electronic keyboard, drums and a backbeat which are always three great aspects of a great pop song!
The judges chose their top three acts...
MAGICAL BONES, X1X CREW and SIRINE JAHANGIR
The judges had to pick their favourite act to send to the finale...
David Walliams chose MAGICAL BONES
Alesha Dixon chose MAGICAL BONES
Ashley Banjo chose MAGICAL BONES
Amanda Holden chose SIRINE JAHANGIR, but one vote wasn't enough for her to get to the final after this show...
And that's Episode 3 complete!
