Hey everyone!
Another day another music video reaction! Today's reaction video is to a song called 'My Head & My Heart, off of Ava Max's latest album 'Heaven and Hell'. She is known for having one side of her hair long, and the other short, and she's also a really attractive woman! I believe she rose to fame with the release of her first single with Atlantic Records in 2018 called 'Sweet But Psycho', after signing with them in 2016. Enough history about Ava, here's my music video review!
At the start of the music video, the opening shot saw Ava walking down the road in a black bra and matching trousers with two glamorous girls, as if they were walking to a special event or go on a night out. There was a quick transition to a variety of club shots with a blue underwater visual look. She is seen with her pink acrylic nails and is met with a variety of dancers who seem to have glow in the dark t shirts and trousers. There are also multiple shots of Ava with her half long half short haircut which is one of her unique qualities which has helped her amass over 4 million followers on her YouTube channel. During the video, there are some shots which are focused on a male who is wearing a white top, and he seems to be Ava's love interest throughout the shoot.
Some of the lyrics that are heard during the middle of the song include 'my mind's got a mind of its own' which could mean that she might somehow not be in control of how she thinks or the actions that she makes. This could also be a sign that when she's not necessarily thinking about something, her brain is still formulating ideas and suggestions...She goes on to sing the initial lyrics in the chorus which are 'my head and my heart are torturing me' and this is quite an important line, as usually people say that their head and their heart are saying different things, but the fact that they are both 'torturing' her, it makes it sounds like they are both trying to compete in becoming the 'right answer' as to what she wants to do? Anyhow, the music video continues with various shots of Ava and a small dance group in a red room, where she is featured in the middle. There are a variety of quite interesting close up and far away camera shots, with some pans across the screen, and some extra shots including one of her wearing a black cowboy hat, which help the video to transition nicely, but also add some personal character to it - especially with some shots of Ava with her tongue out!
The final shots of the music are quite similar to the dance routine above, but she has changed into a red top and trousers which have some chains hanging down, with the backing dancers in all black. There is also a large chandelier light in the middle of the room, and again, some transitions to other shots including her dancing in the middle of a room with black and red flashing lights, and a short montage of Ava having paparazzi shots which sitting and posing on steps. It was a really creatively put together music video, with hints to nightcluubs *hopefully* being open at some point this year, and also shows how easy it would be to film a music video in a venue, if it's empty!
