NTU Car Parking Security

Updated: Apr 8, 2023

One of the many roles that I have taken up whilst also completing my final year of Media with Pathways (or Media Production as the course is now called); I have been working part time on Clifton Campus helping direct cars around campus, as well as being the first point of contact for people who are wanting to come onto campus. This includes students, professionals, people for interviews, guests/visitors for sports games/matches/events and even some of my car parking colleagues!

I have been working part time with the team for a few months and every day is very interesting. There are definitely a lot of stories I could tell about the different people I have met and how I have dealt with them, the events that have been run and the complication of some of the changes made to events...

Here are a few pictures that I managed to get my flatmate to take for me just before she had to go to lectures. I thought I would at least try and get a few pictures of myself with the security jacket on (just in case I have to stop working eventually, or once I finish studying and am no longer a student)...

From November 2019 - March 2020 I worked as a 'Car Parking Security/Supervisor':

Overview:

As a student, I was regularly looking for new and exciting opportunities. I worked for UniTemps, a company who run in collaboration with Universities up and down the country, and was able to find an opportunity to become a car parking steward/car park security supervisor. After my first shift, I was recommended to come back for another shift, and then I ended up working mainly weekends and some days during the week from November 2019 to March 2020

Duties:

-Helped with car park and general campus security. Signposted cars into empty spaces in the car park.

-Counted the number of available spaces & communicated with the NTU car parking staff

-Worked in a variety of environments

-Helped to stop collisions between cars

-Spoke to students and advised them which car park to use if they didn't have their student ID or if they were visiting from other Universities/companies

-Communicated by walkie talkie/head set to ensure all aspects of the student campus were covered
