Hey everyone,
In this blog post I am going to summarise a podcast that I was featured on as a guest with a fellow podcaster back in June of 2019. Whilst a student at University, I discovered a podcast called 'The University Podcast' and the episode I was featured in was called 'Episode 7: Friends: Can You Take Them With You?' which started with me admitting that I eat raisins but have never eaten an actual grape!
The description of this podcast was 'Welcome back to the University Podcast! In this episode I am joined by the lovely Brandon. Brandon took a gap year before going to University and so had lots of different friendship circles; school friends, work friends and then new Uni mates too. In this episode we discuss friendships both at school and University as well as the transitions that happen when you move from sixth form into freshers. This is the seventh episode in the series which aims to unravel the mysteries of University, covering all the topics that you wouldn’t usually hear about! If you want to hear more from Brandon, go and find his YouTube: IsThatBrandon'
Throughout the podcast, we discussed the journey of going through Secondary school, making friends throughout your life and the various friendship groups that people are a part of, as well as the additions of new friends that can sometimes change the dynamics of already established groups. We also delved into the topic of the importance of having a gap year and the transition of going to University...having to live by myself and learn a variety of new skills that I had to teach myself to do; such as cleaning, cooking, washing as well as structuring my time, making friends and also ensuring that I was making the most of the University experience from the very beginning, which for me began in 2017.
